More info
To strengthen the defense of St. Petersburg from a possible attack of the Western coalition from the sea, it was decided to build a series of steam canon ships. The first was the pre-serial ship “Stierliadj”, built according to the tsar's order. In September 1854, the ship was launched and, on September 30 of the same year, included in the list of warships of the Baltic Fleet, began service. During the Crimean War, the “Stierliadj” was involved in many operations and was practically the only steamship, that tsarist Russia could confront in the Black Sea with a powerful squadron of Allied steamers. In 1869, the “Stierliadj” was removed from the list of battleships, and in 1871 it was written off and handed over for cutting. A small but excellently detailed and dificult model of a small ship, which we really do not recommend for beginners and inexperienced modelers. The model has a lot of small details and a rather complicated rigging, although the sailing equipment does not require it. Parts to be painted on both sides are printed on both sides.
